THE DARK SIDE: NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY
The jazzy neon glow of a motel sign... the silver hush of a moonlit landscape... the hollow loneliness of deserted city street lamps... the raucous revelry of a nightclub at midnight....
NIGHT holds a special place in the heart of photography. The geometry of light and shadow creates an interplay of mystery, possibility, and the foreboding that accompanies paths of the unknown.
This October, as Halloween looms large on the horizon, 1650 visits THE DARK SIDE: A Juried Exhibit of Night Photography. Photographic greats such as Brassai, George Tice, Peter Hujar, Weegee and Robert Brook are just a few examples of those who have contributed great works in the genre of night photography. This month, at 1650, it is your turn.
Because there were so many great photographs to select from, the juror has chosen additional photos for an web-only collection online annex gallery.
